This Saturday, for the first time since October 21, 2016, a blue moon will appear across the horizon. It is one of the most unique phenomena to ever occur in nature. It comes rarely, so be sure not to miss it. What is a blue moon though? A blue moon is the third full moon in a season or year which has four full moons. This happens roughly every two and a half years. The moon is usually pale gray, but because of the natural phenomena, the moon looks blue with the naked eye. The term " blue moon" is about 400 years old, and derives its name from Britain. There are 12 full moons in a year, but occasionally there are 13, causing this spectacular anomaly. "Once in a blue moon", became a popular term around the same time people started noticing blue moons. It happens around the end of a month, and its very rare to see a fully blue moon. We will again see the blue moon in 2020 and 2022. This is the second blue moon this year, so please witness this amazing event. This gorgeous moon will not last long, so do not miss it!
